Ann Fitz-Gerald has worked in the area of Security Sector
Reform for approximately ten years. She obtained post-graduate
degrees in Management and Political Science and completed
a Doctorate in Defence Management and Security Analysis.
She is currently the Head of the Centre for Managing
Security in Transitional Societies within the Department
of Defence Management and Security Analysis at Cranfield
University. Ann is widely published in the area of security
and peacebuilding in post-conflict and transitional
societies. She has worked as a researcher and a practitioner
in the Balkans and Africa, and has held appointments
at both NATO and the UN.

Riefqi Muna, has been invovled as a researcher in Foreign
and Security issues since 1991. He received a Master
degree in Defence Studies from the Australian Defence
Force Academy, and attended a postgraduate course in
International Relations at the University of Tasmania,
Hobart; He attended an "Executive Course on Security
Studies at the APCSS, Hawaii; and Peace/Conflict Studies,
and Civilian Peacekeeping Training/IPT at ASPR, Austria.
Riefqi is also member of IWG-SSR (Indonesian Working
Group on SSR). In Indonesia, he was involved in drafting
the "Bill on National Defence", and prior
to join GFN-SSR, Riefqi assisted in the project on 'Defence
White Paper", and Strategic and Defence Review
(SDR). His current research interest is in SSR, defence
policy, and Asia-Pacific security.

Anicia Lala |

Anicia Lalá has dealt with Security
Sector Reform since 1997 from both practitioner and research
positions. She worked at the Ministry of Defence of Mozambique
with responsibilities in the fields of international co-operation,
elaboration and revision of legislation and was part of
a commission appointed to establish a Military Academy.
Anicia has also been lecturing at the Higher Institute
for International Relations (Mozambique) and was an
advisor to the Rector. She is a member of Southern Africa
Defence & Security Management Network, which delivers
courses and develops research projects in the area of
security. Anicia has researched SSR in Mozambique in
the post-conflict and transition phase and holds an
MSc in Peace and Development Studies from Gothenburg
University. Her areas of research interest are SSR,
Conflict Analysis and Development.

since 1995. He has spent most of his career working within
the Ministry of Defence.He holds a degree in History,

has been working for the past 18 months on Cranfield’s
MDA Flexible Learning variant. In this time he has developed
interactive learning content as well as the departments
custom Virtual Learning Environment.Core competencies
include ColdFusion, MySQL and Flash along with their related
products. |

the Web Development industry for 3 years. Previously he
has worked in the Financial Services industry on a SAP

Chris is an expatriate Scot raised in the Middle and Far
East. He holds a Politics MA from the University of Glasgow,
focusing on International and Comparative politics. He
will be completing a PhD relating to South East Asian

Jeffrey Isima holds a BSc in International Relations (Ife-Nigeria)
and an MA in Development Studies (The Hague). This Nigerian
academic is currently on the GFN-SSR Team as a Research
Officer. Grounded in the theory of global, regional and
national security issues, and the development debate,
he fits right into the emerging SSR agenda as a researcher. |

Aneta Ratynska |

Born in Poland and raised in South Africa she has lived
through the transitions of two very different political
cultures, and experienced the reform process from the
perspective of a civilian bystander. Most recently she
graduated with top honours from Queen’s School of
Business at Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada,
where she focused on researching the political economy
of trade protection, and governance-related development
mechanisms and processes. She joins the GFN-SSR team as
a Research Officer and PhD candidate, working on issues
related to governance and the IFIs. |

Helen Hansford |

Helen Hansford began her working career as a Business
Studies teacher and became principal of a private secretarial
college in Middlesex and then held a similar post in South
Kensington. The change in secretarial training requirements
prompted a career move into the public sector and she
worked as finance and facilities manager in a large comprehensive
grant maintained school in north west London. She came
to Cranfield University in 2000. |
