Welcome to the GFN-SSR.org Web Site
The GFN-SSR team is delighted to be launching the first phase of the GFN-SSR website. The website is a product of a dynamic process that will be continuously built upon and further developed. Within the first two months, we have succeeded in providing facilities such as a database of institutions, specialists, documents and journals, a calendar of events, a discussion forum and some basic educational tools designed to enhance the understanding of SSR and the comprehensive issues that fall under this subject area. The website will also feature an electronic Journal of Security Sector Reform to which we hope all our users will add contributions. These contributions will be reviewed by the GFN-SSR Advisory Group, which will also serve as the Board of Editors.

The website will always feature a current events section on the homepage. This section will provide information on activities such as recent SSR conferences and seminars, the current edition of the newsletter, a critique on a recent piece of published literature on SSR, job vacancies and profiles on institutions, organisations and actors in the field.

It is our intention that the website develops into a truly global facility to which all partner institutions, members and users will contribute. By the third phase of the website’s development, we envisage having a language translation facility and a sufficiently advanced interactive mechanism that allows users from across the globe to make instant contributions to all the website’s facilities, such as the educational learning materials, journal reviews and critiques, ‘experiences from the field’ and commentary for our quarterly newsletter. However, we hope that these contributions begin immediately and are sent through to our Information Manager, Nick Luft, for immediate processing.

We are a global facility ready to serve as an information repository and assist your learning needs. If there is anything that you would like to see provided by the website, please send your request to and we will respond as quickly as possible.
